This is just a quick one with me going through some tones with the ToneX Pedal and the HX FX. I've set up a patch in the HX where all the FX are basically stereo (ToneX does just the amp sim and all FX are coming from the HX), as it would be in a big rack setup :) The main outs of the HX are going through my ART SLA-1 power amp into 2 1x12 cabinets (one is a Mesa Thiele with an EV speaker, the other is a Crate 1x12 with a Tone Tubby speaker). There's no IR going to the main out. The DI signal is routed through send 1&2 of the HX and has a stereo IR block added (this would be the signal to send to FOH in a live situation, so there would be no need to mic the cabs). I'm just randomly switching back and forth between the camera audio and the recorded DI tone. Guitar used is my trusty Ibanez AZ2204 Enjoy, tell me what you think and leave a comment and hit subscribe if you like;)

Will the Line 6 Helix HX Effects make snobs like me get over myself and get into some digital multi-effects? If you usually consider yourself to be a 'traditionalist' like me, but you're looking for more convenience, something like the HX still might seem enticing. So I'm going to find out for myself, and for you, if people like us can get into a unit like this. In this video I program 4 patches on the HX effects for a friend who will be singing and playing second guitar (no David Gilmour solos in this video sorry!) with a Pink Floyd tribute act here in Ireland. We compare the new Line 6 Helix and HX Effects Reverbs to their favorite reverb pedals (Strymon BigSky and Boss RV-6). We play through all 5 of the new reverbs from Line 6. It's important to remember that Line 6 did not model these reverbs against the ones we compared them to from Strymon and Boss. They are just the ones we thought they sounded most like. The line 6 verbs will not sound exactly the same (nor should they). We also found that the HX reverbs could not get as 'wet' as the Boss and Strymon verbs - on many of the HX verbs, we had the mix set well above 50% and the level maxed at +6. You could, however, stack multiple reverbs in the HX effects or Helix to get a very complex reverb sound that would easily sound as big as those from Strymon or Boss (and this is not something you could do with those pedals). Guitar we used: MJT VTL (Thinline tele with Porter pickups) Amp: Kemper Profiling Amp using the Ace Sonic Pope profile from Tone Junkies ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our vision is that every church in the world would experience worship that is both excellent and authentic. How to control effects parameters with expression pedals, footswitches, and MIDI.
Hello all I finally got all the components together for my new compact gigging pedalboard. The HX Effects combined with the Boss OD200, IR200 and RC5. Bring these pieces together and you get a rig that's flexibility is only outshined by its tonal options both Direct and through an amp or indeed both at the same time. Could this finally be a keeper for any gig I might have???? Seems Likely. This is part1 of 2 where I go through the setup and wiring of the board as well as demonstrate using it for basic cover / pub band sounds both direct and with an amp. which it does beautifully. In part 2 I'll be getting into the far more complex MIDI Switching I use between all 4 units to play my original band's set. For my Presets visit: 🤍 One of these came up used for a good price, and the HX Stomp XL has sort of made me think about what would be possible with more buttons...But anyway yeh the HX Effects is the HX Stomp minus the Amp models and plus some buttons, which with Firmware 3.0 it became clear that running Poly Pitch and stuff like that with the Stomp would invite having another processor....Anyway - here's the HX Effects with a new freeze preset into my Mesa Boogie California Tweed. I've also started a new folder if you want my HX Effects presets, I'll drop them in there! In this video I create a modular Line 6 HX family rig by running the HX Stomp in the FX loop of the HX Effects, which is effectively using the 4 Cable Method on the Stomp. This setup is ideal for people who want Helix tones in a more travel friendly format that can break down into smaller pieces. HX Stomp Preset: 🤍 HX Effects Preset: 🤍 I realized after I finished making this video that I had my Global EQ turned on. You may need to tweak your Global EQ to get the presets to sound similar.
